DateRhythm is operated by Alconbury Tech Ltd ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use the DateRhythm mobile application and related services.

By using DateRhythm, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Account Information: Your name, email address, and profile details when you create an account, whether via email and password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In.
• Onboarding Survey Responses: Your answers to the onboarding questionnaire about your relationship stage and preferences, used to personalise the app experience.
• Calendar and Availability Data: The availability slots and date events you create to plan with your partner.
• Reflections and Notes: Post-date mood ratings, highlights, gratitude entries, and journal notes you voluntarily submit.
• Chat Messages: Conversations with the AI Coach feature to provide relationship guidance.
• Daily Question Responses: Your answers to daily discovery questions. If you are connected with a partner, their answers are also visible to you.
• Lesson Progress: Which lessons you have viewed or completed, your responses within lessons, and your progress data including streaks.
• Shared To-Do Items: To-do list entries you create that are shared with your connected partner.
• Preference and Compatibility Quizzes: Responses to preference matching and compatibility quizzes used to generate relationship insights.
• Cancellation Feedback: If you cancel your subscription, we collect optional exit survey responses to improve our service.
• Subscription Information: Purchase records managed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store via RevenueCat.

Sensitive data (opt-in only)

• Intimacy and Wellness Tracking: If you choose to use the intimacy tracking feature, we collect data about your intimate wellness, preferences, and feelings. This data is AES-encrypted on your device before being stored and is never shared with third parties or your partner unless you explicitly choose to share it. You can disable this feature at any time.

Information collected automatically

• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and timezone, used for crash diagnostics and optimal notification timing.
• Push Notification Tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens to deliver push notifications to your device.
• Usage Analytics: Feature usage patterns, screen views, and interaction data collected via Firebase Analytics and PostHog to improve the app experience.
• Crash and Diagnostic Data: Crash reports, error logs, and device diagnostics collected via Firebase Crashlytics to identify and fix bugs.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the DateRhythm service.
• Enable shared calendar, availability, to-do list, and daily question features between you and your connected partner.
• Generate personalised date ideas and relationship insights.
• Power the AI Coach with context to give relevant, personalised advice (see Section 4 for details on what data is shared).
• Calculate your Rhythm Score and other derived metrics from your usage patterns to help you track relationship growth.
• Generate personalised content recommendations, reflection prompts, and lesson content.
• Track your lesson progress, streaks, and relationship milestones.
• Process subscriptions and manage your account.
• Send service-related notifications, including date reminders, lesson reminders, weekly recaps, and milestone celebrations.
• Send promotional communications such as monthly relationship reports and re-engagement emails (you can opt out of these at any time).
• Analyse engagement patterns to improve retention and the overall product experience.
• Diagnose technical issues via crash reports and usage analytics.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• With Your Connected Partner: Calendar availability, shared date events, daily question answers, shared to-do items, and partnership data are visible to the partner you connect with in the app.
• OpenAI (AI Coach): When you use the AI Coach, we send your conversation messages along with contextual information to OpenAI for processing. This contextual information includes your onboarding survey responses, Rhythm Score, date history, lesson progress, partner name, relationship anniversary, and subscription status. OpenAI processes this data under our data processing agreement and does not use it to train their models.
• Firebase (Google Cloud): We use Firebase for authentication, data storage, cloud functions, push notifications, analytics, and crash reporting. Data is processed under Google's data processing terms.
• RevenueCat: Subscription and purchase data is processed by RevenueCat for subscription management.
• PostHog: Anonymised product usage data and feature interaction events are sent to PostHog for product analytics.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase with encryption in transit and at rest. We implement Firestore security rules that ensure you can only access data within your own account and partnerships.

Sensitive intimacy tracking data is additionally AES-encrypted on your device before being stored in our database, providing an extra layer of protection.

API keys and secrets (such as our OpenAI API key) are stored in Firebase Secret Manager and are never exposed in client-side code.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, where our service providers (Google/Firebase, OpenAI, RevenueCat, PostHog) operate. These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses and data processing agreements with each provider.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. Chat messages with the AI Coach are retained to maintain conversation context. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems, including your profile, partnership data, chat history, lesson progress, and any other personal information.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View the personal data we hold about you.
• Export: Request a copy of your data via the Privacy and Data section in the app.
• Delete: Permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings.
• Correction: Update or correct your profile information.
• Opt out of marketing: Unsubscribe from promotional emails (weekly recaps, monthly reports, re-engagement campaigns) at any time via the app settings or email unsubscribe links.
• Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent (such as intimacy tracking), you can withdraw consent at any time by disabling the feature.

9. Automated Processing

DateRhythm uses automated processing to enhance your experience. This includes:

• Rhythm Score: A weekly calculated score based on your date frequency, lesson engagement, mood ratings, and streak data to help you track relationship growth.
• Content Recommendations: Personalised lesson and date suggestions generated based on your usage patterns and preferences.
• Coach Nudges: Context-aware notifications suggesting when to engage with the AI Coach based on your activity patterns.

These automated processes are used to improve your experience and do not result in decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

10. Children's Privacy

DateRhythm is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 18, we will delete it promptly.

11. Third-Party Services

DateRhythm integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google Firebase (authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Analytics, Crashlytics)
• PostHog (product analytics and feature usage tracking)
• RevenueCat (subscription and purchase management)
• OpenAI (AI Coach chat processing and personalised content generation)
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store (app distribution and payments)

12. Tracking Technologies

DateRhythm uses mobile analytics identifiers provided by Firebase Analytics and PostHog to understand how users interact with the app. These are not browser cookies but device-level identifiers used solely for product improvement. You can limit tracking through your device's privacy settings.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last updated" date above.
